On MacOS, to capture a screenshot to the clipboard, you can use the following shortcuts:

• shift+cmd+3 — takes a screenshot of the whole screen
• shift+cmd+4 — takes a screenshot of a portion of the screen, you select with the crosshairs the area to be captured
• shift+cmd+4+space — takes a screenshot of a window or menu, hold option/alt to exclude the window’s shadow
